https://www.blockchainresearchinstitute.org/project/indias-land-registry-on-blockchain/
Dec 18, 2018 - This case details one of the United Nations Develop Programme’s projects applying technological solutions to some of the humanitarian agency’s most pressing challenges. As a test case, the UNDP sponsored Blockscale Solutions to build a reliable land registry proof of concept in the state of Haryana, India, as a means of reducing bureaucratic corruption and expediting humanitarian aid in the aftermath of natural disasters. The case compares Haryana’s current system of land administration with the long-term benefits and obstacles to implementation of a blockchain-based system.
Platforms for Sustainable Food Production
File Type: Document
https://www.blockchainresearchinstitute.org/project/platforms-for-sustainable-food-production/
Jan 06, 2022 - This brief shows how blockchain technologies, combined with mobile access to drones, sensors, satellite imagery, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and other innovations, can secure our global food supply, one farm at a time. The solutions it explores focus on topsoil to mitigate the harmful effects of chemicals, aggressive tillage, monocultural crops, and climate change. The goal is to give smallholders—often the poorest farmers with less than two hectares of land in jurisdictions hardest hit by environmental and humanitarian crises—the tools and training they need for sustainable food production, transforming the long-term...

https://www.blockchainresearchinstitute.org/project/patents-at-the-trivergence/
Apr 28, 2022 - Led by an expert at Polsinelli PC, an Am Law 100 firm, this project examines the convergence of three technologies—blockchain, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things—within individual innovations, with a focus on patents. It identifies the most prolific patent applicants by country, company, and inventor. It also describes fascinating examples of “trivergence” in supply chains, transportation and automotive (BMW, Daimler, and Hyundai), and the additive manufacturing of medical devices, to name a few. Pure Storage tops the enterprise leaderboard, along with Intel, American Express Travel Services, Baidu, Tencent, ...

File Type: Document, Infographic
https://www.blockchainresearchinstitute.org/project/state-of-enterprise-blockchain/
Jun 28, 2021 - This project reports on the state of the enterprise blockchain space. It begins with commentary on the state of the world writ large—from the pandemic’s effects on the economy and the global need for vaccinations to the K-shaped recovery and the consequences of helicopter money (e.g., inflation). It covers a series of developments relevant to enterprise users: the price volatility of cryptocurrencies, the shortcomings of consensus mechanisms for enterprise needs, the growth of stablecoins, the status of tokenless blockchains and blockchain-as-a-service offerings, and the latest on central bank digital currencies (e.g., China’s digital c...
The Coming Cataclysm
File Type: Document, Infographic
https://www.blockchainresearchinstitute.org/project/the-coming-cataclysm/
Sep 30, 2019 - This research explores the disruptive effects of blockchain technologies on central banking and the financial services industry. Its author discusses Facebook’s proposed cryptocurrency Libra, and how the other FAANG companies—that is, Amazon.com, Apple, Netflix, and Google—might respond with their own digital tokens. He introduces five transformations—cryptoassets, the tokenization of everything, blockchains as state machines, a new model for identity, and the nine forms of decentralized finance. He examines the challenges that incumbents and innovators face during this transition; and he previews the world of financial services in th...
