Autonomous Vehicles and Blockchain
File Type: Document, Infographic
https://www.blockchainresearchinstitute.org/project/autonomous-vehicles-and-blockchain/
Aug 31, 2019 - This project explores how blockchain technology will optimize the deployment of connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs), including those with electric vertical takeoff and landing capabilities. It looks at the Mobile Open Blockchain Initiative, which involves 80 percent of world’s auto manufacturers and leading tech firms. It covers such implementation challenges as blockchain latency and scalability, communications network latency, device security, and regulation. Finally, it raises concerns about data privacy on immutable distributed ledgers as well as the legal liabilities of CAV ownership and usage.

Finally, Alex discusses Web 3 innovations with Layer 1 and Layer 2 solutions to such implementation challenges as scalability, interoperability, and ease of use. If bitcoin was the spark for the financial serv...
2020 Pandemic Roundtable
File Type: Document
https://www.blockchainresearchinstitute.org/project/2020-pandemic-roundtable/
Apr 07, 2020 - Our research shows that blockchain holds enormous potential for helping us to anticipate public health crises, prepare for them far more effectively, and manage them when they hit. There are challenges here in every sector—public and private alike—and opportunities for every leader, innovator, and entrepreneur. The crisis emerged amid problems with data, transparency, security, and trust—all problems that innovators have tackled using this new “Internet of Value.” We need a novel approach to data, health records, and citizen identity, an approach that provides the required information to authorities without undermining the rights of...

https://www.blockchainresearchinstitute.org/project/patterns-from-the-past/
Aug 30, 2019 - This is the first half of Trust(less): How Blockchain Will Help Us Navigate the Post-Trust World. It establishes the context for distrust in technology. We might assume that our current challenges with blockchain innovations are unique. But every generation of inventive entrepreneurs has faced push-back from a species that doesn’t easily embrace change. After reviewing the history of initially terrifying inventions—from electricity and elevators to artificial intelligence and Airbnb—the author distills the lessons relevant to the building consumer trust needed for broad consumer adoption of blockchain technologies.
