Dec 21, 2017 - This case study investigates how the start-up Slock.it is deploying blockchain technology to enable a true sharing economy through its "universal sharing network." It describes how the company’s inspiration came from an attempted high-tech heist and outlines the conditions necessary for such a sharing platform to succeed.

Apr 28, 2022 - Led by an expert at Polsinelli PC, an Am Law 100 firm, this project examines the convergence of three technologies—blockchain, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things—within individual innovations, with a focus on patents. It identifies the most prolific patent applicants by country, company, and inventor. It also describes fascinating examples of “trivergence” in supply chains, transportation and automotive (BMW, Daimler, and Hyundai), and the additive manufacturing of medical devices, to name a few. Pure Storage tops the enterprise leaderboard, along with Intel, American Express Travel Services, Baidu, Tencent, ...

Oct 18, 2018 - Energy expert and innovator Lawrence Orsini shares his research and work on blockchain applications that will transform global energy grids at local, national, and international levels. He provides a snapshot of today’s energy markets, consumers’ willingness to generate their own energy through green technology, and blockchain’s ability to create peer-to-peer markets for excess energy. Pointing to experiments in Australia and German, Orsini shows how blockchain will support the next generation of energy infrastructure. He discusses the roles of stakeholders -- policymakers, energy producers, and corporate intermediaries -- and he sugges...

Jul 19, 2019 - This research looks at blockchain technology’s impact on enterprise strategy and the role of the chief strategy officer. It discusses new elements of strategic design and delivery—shared ledgers, smart contracts, and tokenized assets—and develops the concept of strategic liquidity, the degree to which an enterprise can maneuver in a competitive environment and dynamically reallocate resources and access capabilities. It frames implementation challenges as areas for further research and opportunities to participate in blockchain standards development. Finally, it suggests ways for companies to cultivate blockchain knowledge and expertise...

Reinventing Healthcare on the Blockchain
File Type: Document, Infographic, Video
https://www.blockchainresearchinstitute.org/project/reinventing-healthcare-on-the-blockchain/
Jan 12, 2018 - The healthcare systems of many countries work for neither the medical professionals nor the patients they serve. It is the only industry where innovation drives costs up. The problem ultimately resides in industrial-age thinking about healthcare delivery, where intermediaries hoard data, assume patient ignorance, and exclude anyone without insurance. This project flips the model: patients co-create and own their data, have full access to it, and can monetize it on the blockchain.
