Dec 15, 2017 - This project explores how blockchain will change business models dependent on free big data. Distributed ledger technology will enable instant payment networks, loyalty schemes, aggregated metadata, multi-jurisdiction processes, and transactions within multinationals, potentially without liability for customer data and in compliance with EU General Data Protection Regulation.

Jun 18, 2019 - This case details the problems that need to be solved, specifically how photographers can maximize the value of their intellectual property. It explains how the KODAKOne platform works and walks through several use cases. It also discusses such non-technical obstacles as the different copyright laws across jurisdictions, costly legal processes, and different interpretations of legal concepts like as fair use and exhaustion. The case also describes how Kodak might reinvent its brand within the competitive digital image platform ecosystem.

Blockchain Revolution in Education and Lifelong Learning
File Type: Document
https://www.blockchainresearchinstitute.org/project/blockchain-revolution-in-education-and-lifelong-learning/
Apr 22, 2019 - Updated in collaboration with the IBM Institute for Business Value, this project explores how blockchain is transforming education with an emphasis on lifelong learning and the reskilling of the workforce. It covers not just traditional educational institutions but also corporate training and development, where innovators are using blockchain to establish student identity, protect privacy, finance coursework, measure progress, and record badges of achievement and skills mastery. The implementation of microcredentialing capabilities, pay-as-you-learn funding models, and massively open online courses, plus the co-creation of open educational re...

Issued Patents on Blockchain Innovation
File Type: Document, Infographic
https://www.blockchainresearchinstitute.org/project/issued-patents-on-blockchain-innovation/
Aug 31, 2019 - This project surveys patents issued globally in the blockchain space, compares them to the nature and volume of patents in the Internet space, and puts them into categories of innovation. The author walks through a careful analysis of the claims of issued patents, for companies to decide whether to avoid such patents or to design around their claims. He identifies deficiencies in the patent office review of prior art, which—when rectified—could render a patent invalid. Finally, he discusses strategic uses of patent offices and the federal court system in the defense of or dispute over an issued patent.
