Jun 18, 2019 - This case details the problems that need to be solved, specifically how photographers can maximize the value of their intellectual property. It explains how the KODAKOne platform works and walks through several use cases. It also discusses such non-technical obstacles as the different copyright laws across jurisdictions, costly legal processes, and different interpretations of legal concepts like as fair use and exhaustion. The case also describes how Kodak might reinvent its brand within the competitive digital image platform ecosystem.

Oct 31, 2019 - This is the second half of Trust(less): How Blockchain Will Help Us Navigate the Post-Trust World. It explores the broken promises of prominent players in the first ten years of blockchain technology and examines their behavior in terms of their benevolence, competence, and integrity. It also addresses the negative associations that orbit blockchain in the mind of the average, semi-informed observer and outlines a four-step process for rebuilding trust in the blockchain ecosystem.

Nov 22, 2017 - This project explores the intersection of Internet of Things and blockchain as a means of securing transactions among objects, realizing efficiencies, establishing appropriate boundaries between public and private, and developing strategies for business leaders across industry. It maps out the typical architecture of an IoT deployment in terms of connectivity, identity, sensing, and actuation. The author walks through the challenges of centralized and decentralized IoT designs, from scalability, latency, and transaction costs to privacy, durability, and interoperability of systems.

https://www.blockchainresearchinstitute.org/project/saving-the-web/
Dec 09, 2018 - Amid ongoing reports of surveillance, censorship, and massive hacking of data, this research explores how distributed ledger technology can address the challenges of the World Wide Web. The authors argue that blockchain can support the Internet’s founding ideals, decentralize the Internet, and restore the balance of power between individuals and large organizations. They focus on three big issues: open access, fair participation, and the recovery of the individual sovereignty as users. The authors interviewed such experts as Sir Tim Berners-Lee, Joseph Lubin of Consensus Systems, Shane Greenstein of Harvard Business School, Rouven Heck of u...

Diamonds on the Blockchain
File Type: Document, Infographic
https://www.blockchainresearchinstitute.org/project/diamonds-on-the-blockchain/
Dec 22, 2017 - This research looks at the blockchain start-up Everledger's use of distributed ledgers and artificial intelligence in place of flawed, forgeable, and inefficient paperwork to record and verify the provenance of diamonds. It covers use cases involving fine wine and art where an asset's value depends on its authenticity, and it provides managerial considerations for participants in such high-value supply chains. As of 2018, the platform is based on IBM Blockchain, a version of Hyperledger Fabric. Before 2016, Everledger used Ethereum, Eris, and BigchainDB.
