Oct 18, 2018 - Energy expert and innovator Lawrence Orsini shares his research and work on blockchain applications that will transform global energy grids at local, national, and international levels. He provides a snapshot of today’s energy markets, consumers’ willingness to generate their own energy through green technology, and blockchain’s ability to create peer-to-peer markets for excess energy. https://www.blockchainresearchinstitute.org/project/issued-patents-on-blockchain-innovation/
Aug 31, 2019 - This project surveys patents issued globally in the blockchain space, compares them to the nature and volume of patents in the Internet space, and puts them into categories of innovation. The author walks through a careful analysis of the claims of issued patents, for companies to decide whether to avoid such patents or to design around their claims. He identifies deficiencies in the patent office review of prior art, which—when rectified—could render a patent invalid. Finally, he discusses strategic uses of patent offices and the federal court system in the defense of or dispute over an issued patent.

Jan 16, 2018 - This manifesto for change calls for a new social contract, one that redefines the relationship between individuals in society and the institutions they have created to self-govern. It looks at the four drivers of this change—the Fourth Industrial Revolution, globalization of ideas and the economy, climate change, and demographic shifts due to war, drought, and oppression. It identifies such global disruptions as structural unemployment and inequality; failing education, healthcare, and research and development; human rights violations; and a biosphere in crisis. It identifies the four core change makers—the private sector, the state, civi...
